Jackson Street’s Skills and Support Groups follow research-based curriculum to build courage, confidence, honesty, and communication skills for long-term success. We listen to youth voice in building topics and navigating discussions.
Peer Support 541 (PS-541)
What is it?
PS-541 is a support group that meets weekly, focused on life skills.
Eligibility
Youth and young adults ages 16 to 24
How could this help me?
Sessions are facilitated by Jackson Street staff, but discussion topics are largely driven by youth interest. You’ll be encouraged to support each other and problem-solve issues as a group. Jackson Street staff are trained in trauma-informed care and collaborative problem solving. Examples of meeting topics include:
- How to overcome fears during a job interview
- How to fix a bicycle
- How to communicate positively with peers
- Discussing job challenges and building skills
- Basic finances
- Shopping on a budget
- Apartment renting & rental rights
- Household maintenance projects
- Community service projects

Queer Peers
What is it?
Queer Peers is a gender and sexuality support group for youth and young adults in Linn County that identify as LGBTQ+
Eligibility
Youth and young adults ages 14-24 that identify as LGBTQ+
How could this help me?
Together with your peers and guided by Jackson Street staff, you’ll build community, have fun, learn about local and national efforts to support LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness, and have a space to talk about things that are important to you, such as physical, social, and emotional health. The group guides these discussions and Jackson Street staff are trained in trauma-informed care and collaborative problem solving.
We are currently providing hot meals and can also make community referrals and connect you with needed resources.

What is it?
Queer Peers is a gender and sexuality support group for middle schoolers in Benton County that identify as LGBTQ+
Eligibility
Middle school-aged youth that identify as LGBTQ+
How could this help me?
The Queer Peers Middle School social and support group is a safe and inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ youth to come together, build community, and have fun. Our aim is to provide a supportive environment where young people can socialize, learn, and grow alongside their peers. Through a variety of activities, including group discussions, games, and workshops, participants will have the opportunity to explore their identities, connect with others who share similar experiences, and access resources and support services as needed.

One Circle
What is it?
Girls Circle and Boys Council groups provide a safe place for youth to discuss challenging topics in a supportive environment. Courses take place in conjunction with the school year; Jackson Street staff are certified in this evidence-based curriculum. We have also offered summertime groups outside of school hours.
Eligibility
Youth ages 10-18
How could this help me?
You will feel welcomed and appreciated for being exactly who you are! Together with Jackson Street staff and your peers, we’ll build healthy connections and talk about things that are important to you, such as healthy relationships, communication skills, drugs & alcohol, body image, and self‐care. Your voice is important.
